I haven't posted for a few days because I've been grumpy. I have this show I need to paint for and its not working. I'm not inspired. I've been thinking of all the things I need to do before I can paint . . . file photos, go through my piles of paper work, answer emails from months ago . . . oh yeah I'm desperate not to paint because I'm afraid of what's going to come out on the canvas.
Recently I've been inspired by the work of another visual artist . . . a photographer Susan Mikula. She just had her first New York show called "sic transit". Now I thought being part of a three person show in Nova Scotia was pretty awesome. Anyway, I wish I could paint like she photographs because she has captured how I see the world. Shapes and colour. One of her recent photos reminds me of a Robert Motherwell painting. I love this work because this is what I see. Check it out . . . www.susanmikula.com
I don't want this blog to be about weather but after 24 hours of snow today felt pretty darn good. Saw the movie "Doubt" loved it but as you may know Meryl Streep is a favourite of mine.
